Three Holiday Appetizers Your Guests Will Devour

The holidays come fast — and nobody has the time (or the energy) for fussy appetizers that require a culinary degree. What you do have time for? Beautiful, flavour-forward bites that look impressive, taste incredible, and come together in minutes.

Today I’m sharing three crowd-pleasing holiday appetizers that check every box for busy hosts:

✔ simple

✔ elegant

✔ make-ahead friendly

✔ and absolutely delicious

Let’s get right into it.

1. Baked Brie with Festive Toppings

Warm, gooey, sweet-savory perfection.

Ingredients

  • 1 small wheel Brie (8 oz)
  • 1–2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • ¼ cup cranberry sauce or fig jam
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary
  • Crackers, sliced apple or sliced baguette

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place Brie on parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Top with cranberries or fig jam
  4. Add chopped nuts and herbs (fresh rosemary or thyme)
  5. Bake 12–15 minutes, or until soft and gooey.
  6. Drizzle with honey or maple syrup and serve warm

Why it works

The sweetness, crunch, and creaminess create a holiday-perfect bite with almost no prep.

QUICK HOSTING TIP:

Assemble ahead → refrigerate → bake just before serving.

A balanced, elegant bite — sweet, creamy, savoury, crunchy.

  • ¼ cup toasted walnuts, chopped
  • Pinch of pepper
  • Hint of thyme

  1. Sauté onions in olive oil on medium-low until caramelized (20–25 minutes).
  2. Stir in balsamic vinegar.
  3. Give a quick blitz to the (goat cheese, cream cheese and 1 tsp olive oil ) with a handheld mixer to get that airy whipped texture
  4. Spread goat cheese on toasted baguette slices, add a pinch of pepper and hint of thyme, top with onions + walnuts.

Why it works

This is the kind of appetizer that makes guests feel spoiled — but takes almost no effort.

QUICK HOSTING TIP

Caramelize onions the day before — they get sweeter overnight.

Fresh, delicious, and perfect with veggies, pita chips or baguette

  • 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp paprika (or chili powder if you want more depth)
  • Salt + pepper

Instructions

  1. Chop spinach.
  2. Mix all ingredients in a bowl.
  3. Chill at least 1 hour.
  4. Serve with veggies, crackers, or toasted baguette.

Why it works

Classic flavours, big payoff — and you can make it ahead.

QUICK HOSTING TIP

  • Pre-portion crostini on a pretty tray so guests can grab and go.
  • Warm the Brie right before guests arrive — guaranteed “oohs.”
